The Club was originally formed as a scale model boat club. We now, however, cater for modelling of all types, not just for boats. There is a high level of interest in scale and non scale sail. We have an active steam group as well as a small nucleus of 'fast electric' members. The Club meets for sailing every Sunday morning at 11am on the lake in Wardown Park, Luton, Bedfordshire. The lake facility is brought to us by the kind offices of Luton Borough Council who take an interest in our activities and are always keen to assist our endeavours in every way possible.
MAFVA is an international association of people interested in modelling and the history of tanks and other military vehicles. We share information through the publication of Tankette six times per year which contains scale drawings, articles and photographs. The website has an index of material that has appeared in Tankette, and details of how to obtain that information. MAFVA also holds it's National Model Show at Duxford each year to coincide with the Military Vehicle Show. There are active MAFVA branches in many areas of the world, or meeting within local clubs.
A Friendly model club, open to all model makers living in the Northhants region.
The club has been formed by a group of dedicated modellers in order to encourage and promote the art of model making in all of its forms. We all have our own speciality in modelling but actively encourage all of our members to enhance their own field of modelling and to learn from other members modelling techniques. All of our meetings are very informal and friendly with plenty of good humour. We also attend various shows in order to promote the club. The School is also our meeting place for club nights and we have regular meeting twice a month on a Wednesday night. So if you would like to join a friendly active modelling club you are most welcome.
We are a group of modellers with widely ranging interests. We have members who model railways from most decades of the last century and several of us have written articles in the model press. We have club layouts in 4mm scale (OO and EM) and 7mm scale (O gauge), though members' interests also include HO, P4 and the narrow gauges. Our speciality is the construction of working scale overhead electrification systems. Our layouts include Deepcar, which features the 1500V DC electrification of the Woodhead route and Carstairs, which features 25kV AC electrification and computer control. We meet every Tuesday evening at our clubrooms in Bulwell, Nottingham. For details of how to find the club, and for any other information concerning the club and membership details please contact the secretary.
